Mig@Net is organising a separate panel for the dissemination of research results of the Greek case studies undertaken in the context of the project at the annual conference of the Hellenic Social Policy Association.

The conference is entitled “Social Policy in the Time of Crisis” and will take place at Panteion University, Athens in March 2014.

New structures of being and experience in hybrid media environments and social networks point to the continuities and discontinuities of modes of conflict and dialogue, but also offer new dialectical necessities to be explored. Migrants, far more than other groups in society, with their experiences rich in borderlessness, struggle, resistance and empowerment, raise a double challenge when we attempt to research politics of digital presence.

We invite colleagues to raise to this challenge and to discuss migrant ideology, organization, affect, agency and discourses; to comment on digital objects and media produced by pro-migrant and anti-migrant groups and diaspora communities; and to discuss the impact of race, gender, ethnicity and class on everyday discourses in networked digital and hybrid environments.

With an eye to European migration policy and the possibility for a digital public sphere with a European flavor, we particularly welcome – but will not restrict to – the presentation of recent research on conflict and migration in Europe, as well as research focusing on the possibilities of dialogue and democratic praxis in the European digital public sphere beyond the representational.

This conference is part of Hull’s dissemination activities for the European FP7 project MIG@NET ‘Transnational Digital Networks: Migration and Gender’ and it is in joint collaboration with Geert Lovink and the Institute of Network Cultures.

 

The deadline for abstracts is 1^st of December 2012. 

Please submit your abstract and affiliation to Athina Karatzogianni at athina.k@gmail.com or a.karatzogianni@hull.ac.uk. There is no conference registration charge or any fees.

Abstracts will be peer reviewed by the conference panel with the aid of external evaluators, and shall be accepted solely on the basis of merit and relevance.

Το Εργαστήριο Σπουδών Φύλου του τμήματος Κοινωνικής Πολιτικής του Παντείου Πανεπιστημίου διοργανώνει στο πλαίσιο του ευρωπαϊκού ερευνητικού προγράμματος MIG@NET εκδήλωση με τίτλο: «Αυτονομία, Εργασία, και η Πολιτική Οικονομία των Κοινωνικών Μέσων».

Καλεσμένοι ομιλητές είναι η Tiziana Terranova, Αναπληρώτρια Καθηγήτρια στην Κοινωνιολογία της Επικοινωνίας στο Τμήμα Αμερικανικών Σπουδών, Πολιτιστικών και Γλωσσολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου της Νάπολης «L’Orientale» και ο Dmytri Kleiner, προγραμματιστής, καλλιτέχνης και ιδρυτής της ομάδας Telekommunisten από το Βερολίνο.


Τα ψηφιακά κοινωνικά δίκτυα φαίνεται να συντελούν αποφασιστικά στην διαμόρφωση νέων στρατηγικών για την παραγωγή κεφαλαίου και αξίας. Με ποιό τρόπο όμως οι νέες αυτές οι στρατηγικές εμπλέκουν την εργασία των χρηστών; Είναι σωστός ο όρος εργασία όταν αφορά στην παραγωγή αξίας σε κοινωνικές πλατφόρμες; Σε τι ακριβώς βασίζεται η εργασία σήμερα (πχ. στην προσοχή, την κοινωνικότητα των χρηστών;) και τι είναι αυτό που παράγεται;


Η Τiziana Terranova, συγγραφέας του “Network Culture: politics for the information age”, θα απαντήσει στα ερωτήματα αυτά επιδιώκοντας να ορίσει τη σημασία της εξόδου από την εκμετάλλευση και την αποξένωση προς την αυτονομία σε εποχές κρίσης.

Ο Dmytri Kleiner, ο οποίος αναπτύσσει λογισμικά που εστιάζουν στην πολιτική οικονομία του διαδικτύου και στη δυνατότητα αυτο-οργάνωσης της παραγωγής θα παρουσιάσει μια επισκόπηση της σχέσης δικτύων και τρόπων παραγωγής. Χρησιμοποιώντας παραδείγματα από την ιστορία των διαδικτυακών εφαρμογών, θα αναφερθεί στις διαφορές των ομότιμων δικτύων και των εταιρικών κεντρικοποιημένων υπηρεσιών τύπου Facebook ή Twitter. Με αφορμή το πρόσφατο “Telekommunist Manifesto” που έγραψε ο ίδιος, θα μιλήσει στο κοινό για την ασυμβατότητα του καπιταλισμού με τα ελεύθερα δίκτυα.


Οι ομιλίες θα γίνουν στα Αγγλικά και θα ακολουθήσει συζήτηση.
